Katisha Paul, UBCIC Women's Representative, is hosting the Women of the UBCIC Chiefs Council for an evening of connection during the UBCIC Annual General Assembly. The gathering will centre discussion on a Red Dress Alert, a proposed emergency notification system for missing Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people. As governments move to fast-track major project approvals under Bill C-5 and related legislation, matriarchs will discuss the risks that come with expanding LNG, pipeline, and extraction projects without First Nations consent, including the presence of "man camps," which have been linked to increased violence against Indigenous women near resource sites.

Coming as federal MMIWG2S+ funding faces an uncertain future, this is a space for the Women of UBCIC Chiefs Council to connect, share knowledge, and strategize on protecting our women, our land, and future generations.
